Why We Created Livestock Panel Connectors

One Man Fencing was developed by Phillip Morrow when he and his father needed a simpler way to connect livestock panels. Phillip is a North Carolina native and grew up raising various livestock. He and his father always used livestock panels and hooks to set up their fence panels.

One day, while using the hooks to connect a livestock panel to a post, Phillip’s father had one break so badly in his hand while trying to put it on that the force sent him tumbling down a hill. It was then that Phillip’s father sent him looking for an easier way to connect livestock panels to fence posts.

After doing some searching for panel connectors, Phillip couldn’t find anything at the time that looked any easier or just as secure than using hooks. He gave up on the search. A few weeks passed and Phillip’s father, who had assumed he found a better product than hooks, asked when the new connectors would arrive.

Phillip broke the news to his father that he hadn’t found anything and nothing would be arriving. In that moment, his father challenged him to create a product that would help them and others like them who depend on livestock panels for fencing.

It took three years of designing and testing before Phillip landed on the product he now sells. It’s been modified some, but the goal of producing a sturdy livestock fence panel connector has remained the same.

Simplifying Cattle Panel Installation

Often people use hooks, twine, or zip ties to secure livestock panels to fence posts. The PM Livestock Panel Connector makes it so that only two connectors are needed per post for a secure connection. This reduces the number of connections that need to be made, especially if someone is using as many as 12 zip ties per post.

When cattle panels are used as a temporary set up, it’s important that both set up and break down be efficient and quick. So, it became important to Phillip to find a design that would make this process simpler instead of struggling with hooks, tying twine, or cutting zip ties. The PM Livestock Panel Connector by One Man Fencing was created so that people could screw the connector and panel to the post. When unscrewing, the connector often actually stays on the post. This makes moving and setting up the fence in a new location quick and easy. It also reduces mess and waste from cut zip ties and twine left to fall to the ground.

Various Uses of Livestock Panels and Connectors

One Man Fencing’s Livestock Panel Connectors began as a way to simplify temporary fence installation while still maintaining the integrity of the fence, so toughness was very important. The panel connectors are made of zinc plated steel and resists corrosion. There are two versions, one made specifically for t-posts and another made specifically for wood posts.

Since beginning to sell his panel connectors in 2016, Phillip has learned various ways that people utilize cattle panels in addition to using them for livestock. The PM Livestock Panel Connectors are a great option for these many uses.

Customers have used the connectors to stake up garden plants such as green beans, tomatoes, grape vines and more! They are also a great option for setting up cattle panel trellises.

Livestock panels are also being used in more permanent structures. Phillip has had many customers in California order the panel connectors to secure livestock panels on their decks. It makes sense that people who are building permanent railings would want to utilize a strong panel connector.

The PM Livestock Panel Connectors have also been used to set up fencing around chicken coops to offer an extra layer of protection from dogs. They are also a great option to use when setting up dog kennels.
